SO Excited for Itty Bitty Bits!

Okay, so you probably won't fall off your chair in surprise, but in the new Mini Catalog (starting May 1st) there are new stamps (just wait for it) that coordinate perfectly with (here it comes) new PUNCHES!

Well? Are you still on your chair? Okay, I figured you'd be alright. But really, I have had so much fun playing with my new toys, and I'm sure you're going to love them, too.

Actually, I love this combo so much that I'm featuring it for my next Stamps in the Mail Club Round, beginning in May. Yup, it's the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set, plus the matching Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.

Here's one of the cards you'll get to make in May--don't you love how the little tiny (okay, itty bitty) punched pieces fit together to make the large flowers?

In the May Stamps in the Mail Club Kit, you'll get both the stamp set and the set of 3 punches to match, as well as a Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker. So you'll have EVERYTHING for the 4 ready-to-stamp projects that you'll make with your May kit.

That's the beauty of my Stamps in the Mail Club: your pre-cut projects arrive ready to stamp, along with printed step-by-step directions with photos, embellishments and the stamps, inks and accessories you'll need. You can even go online and watch the exclusive Stamps in the Mail Club Video Tutorials where I show you step-by-step how to complete each project.

Here's what past Stamps in the Mail Club members have said about the Club:
Here's what Debbie K, an 11-round Stamps in the Mail Club subscriber had to say: "I really enjoy the Stamps in the Mail Club because everything you need for a project or card is right there--everything is pre-cut. The directions are clear and easy, and then you have the directions that you can use on future projects. I love it."

And Dawn H, another Stamps in the Mail Club veteran shared this thought: "Stamps in the mail club is an awesome way to get creative ideas. A fabulous way to build up your supplies at little cost. Stamps in the mail is like taking a class, only you don't have to leave the comforts of your home. Everything is delivered to your door. I highly recommend Stamps in the mail! Besides the demonstrator is awesome!"
You can sign up now! If you're registered and paid before May 7th, your kit will ship on May 11th and you can begin working on your projects right away!

Build A Bear: Dress Your Own

You should have seen the look that I got when I told a friend I was headed to a Build-A-Bear Party where 18 kids were going to stamp. Oh, and did I mention the kids ranged from ages 3 to 12?

Well it turned out to be a great gathering! The kids really enjoyed the 2 projects I prepared (yes, both the girls AND the boys).

We dressed up our own Build-A-Bears, using the Big Shot dies--the Stampin' Up! Bear and the Beary Essentials.

Keep in mind that this is a simple card created for little little kids. They also stamped the background with the "MOM" stamp from the Messages for Mom stamp set (only available til April 30th!).

Here's another card idea for the Messages for Mom stamp set, using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit (also gone after April 30th).

Everyone also stamped a cute crayon Activity Pack project that was shared by my friend Tami White (thanks Tami!).

So if you've considered holding a stamping party for kids, I highly recommend a Build-A-Bear party!

Be sure to check out my other projects with the Build A Bear Collection!

Simplify Your Card Ideas: Awash with Flowers

Ever look at a card and think, "holy cow, that's WAY too much for me to do"? Well, I certainly can understand the feeling. Sometimes artwork is gorgeous, but I'm not feeling up to the complete challenge.

For our April Stamp Club with Meg card, everyone made the Awash with Flowers card sample shown here, with the Chalk Grid technique. If you missed the details, you can find the original post here.

But if you looked at that card and thought, "Huh. Looks like a lot of work," then I have another sample JUST for YOU! :-)

This is the same layout, just without the extra cutting and fancy Chalk Grid background. This is a fabulous stamp set!

Be sure to order yours before it disappears at the end of April--it won't be back until the new catalog comes out on July 1st!

A La Card Ideas (no shoeboxes were harmed)

Last week I held my popular "A La Card" Class (ha ha... it's a pun, get it?). This is a great chance for me to clear out my stores.

I put together shoeboxes (yes, literally--I raided my closet to get the boxes), each with all the supplies to make a card. The best part for me is that the cardstock is already cut--it's left over from a past workshop or class project! All I have to do is design for a new stamp set.

Then everyone comes and picks the cards they want to make. Oh, and then after class I have to return all the shoeboxes.

Here's one using the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set, which is one of the sets on the 20% off sale during April (nearly over!).

The cardstock for the Fifth Avenue Floral card might look familiar if you've been a stamper for awhile... it's Pink Pirouette, a retired In Color that will be RETURNING (yay!) on July 1st with the Color Renovation.

The next card also features a stamp set from the 20% off in April sale: Trendy Trees. This stamp set is really cute--perfect little accent or centerpiece for pretty much any occasion. Plus it includes several phrases (thanks so much, etc.) so it's a flexible set to add to your stamp collection. (and wahoo--$14.36 :-)

You can view either of these stamp sets (or the others on sale) by going to my Online Ordering website, then clicking the picture for the 2-Step Into Spring sale.

Stamp & Share: April Demonstrator Fun

One of my favorite Demonstrator "perks" is our chance to get together each month to share and see new stamping ideas. These are a few of the pictures from our April LovenStampfuls "Stamp & Share" event.

Linda Yearsley, one of the fabulous demonstrators in our group, gave some terrific ideas on using the Big Shot. I'll definitely have to put a Video Tutorial together soon for some of these! (Or if you're a LovenStampfuls Demonstrator, be sure you ask me for the April event DVD!)

Another fellow demonstrator, Tammie Rundle, shared some samples from a technique she learned the previous weekend at the Stampin' Up! Regional event in Milwaukee (yet another demonstrator perk!).

For this Tempting Turquoise card, Tammie started with a piece of Window Sheet stamped with Staz-On ink, added Crystal Effects to the back side, then dropped some Classic Ink reinker into the Crystal Effects, swirled the ink, sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds, then pressed a piece of crinkled tissue paper over the whole back. Trim the edges, and mount as shown! (whew, that was a whirlwind description of a pretty complicated technique. I think I'm sensing another upcoming Video Tutorial ;-)

Another great sample were these cute spring candy sticks, made by Liz Orr. I loved the idea so much that I used them for my Make N Take project at a community event last night!

These use the smallest flower from the Flower Folds Big Shot die, then a 1" Circle Punch piece to cover the peanut butter cup. It's hard to find the spring colors now that Easter is over, but they're still cute with regular colored PB cup wrappers. Gotta love a chance to dress up simple popsicle sticks!!

Finally, here's a shot of some LovenStampfuls demonstrators working on the Make N Take project. Definitely a fun way to spend 2 hours on a Saturday morning!!

If you've ever considered becoming a demonstrator, this is a great time to sign up! Be sure to check out the details for the Starter Kit special on my website, and let me know if you have any questions!

Posh Pastels: Video Technique Tutorial 4, Chalk Grid

Wow, hard to believe that we're at the 4th tutorial already. I just want to quickly clarify about the Stampin' Pastels, since I've received quite a few questions, most commonly, "what are those Stampin' Pastel thingies?"

Good question! First of all, the Stampin' Pastel Thingies aren't actually 'thingies', just Stampin' Pastels. But on to more informative answers, I usually explain that the Stampin' Pastels are similar to chalks, except they have a little more oil to them than regular chalks. This helps them to stick to cardstock better, plus gives a little bit nicer depth of color than a generic crafty chalk.

So hopefully that might help a bit--if you have more questions, keep them coming!

Have you seen my Posh Pastels projects yet? You won't want to miss any of my 4 Posh Pastels Video Tutorials!

Here is the second technique: Chalk Grid (my favorite!!)

For this project you'll need the following supplies:
  • Stamps: Flower Fancy (111578), Sincere Salutations (115068)
  • Inks: Basic Gray Pad (109120),
  • Paper & Accessories: Meg's Posh Pastels Class Kit, Sponge Daubers (102892), Stampin' Pastels (105542), Blender Pens (102845), Stamping Sponges (101610)
video

Thanks again to Julie Davison for sharing this Chalk Grid technique. You can check out my other recent Chalk Grid card from last week's Stamp Club, too.

Don't forget that you can get your Posh Pastels Class Kit at a discount when you order stamping supplies through my online ordering website in April!

I hope you'll check out the other Posh Pastels Video Tutorials from the past week!

Aunt Shelli WANTS YOU! (Or, What I Want to Be When I Grow Up)

(remember when Rocky & Bullwinkle episodes always had 2 titles? I just couldn't resist for this post! Okay, getting back on track...)

Can I just mention that I LOVE what I do?! Hooray! My job as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is the best. I get to stamp, hang out with friends, gather new ideas and chat with more friends online and at classes.

Know what else I love? I have the chance to share what I love with the people around me. Last evening I had a stamp room full of stampers stamping, laughing and chatting, and once again, I thought about how much I love what I do, and how much I enjoy helping other people in my group get started as Stampin' Up! demonstrators.

So if you've been thinking about joining the Stampin' Up! family, here are 5 quick reasons why you should jump in right now!
  1. Posh Pastels Class Kit: get the kit for FREE plus ALL the tool & supplies you need (Video Tutorials are online)! The Demonstrator Starter Kit has EVERYTHING for your Posh Pastels cards--inks, stamps, accessories...it's a perfect fit!
  2. WOW Technique DVDs: 37 demonstrator presentations on WOW techniques!
  3. Convention is coming: Join us for a 4 day Stampin' Up! party in July!
  4. Great opportunity to meet new friends: I can't imagine all the friends, both demonstrators and customers, who I've met through Stampin' Up!
  5. Chance to save money, make money, or have your hobby pay for itself: There are all kinds of demonstrators in my group--those who mostly order for themselves at a discount, those who have a few parties or take orders from friends to help pay for their own stamping 'habit', and those who are building businesses that can pay a monthly household bill.
get what I tell everyone who signs up with me that it's a good idea to figure out what you want from being a demonstrator. That goal might be to stay active and purchase at a discount for the next year (new catalog coming soon!) or it might be to build a business that can pay some of your household bills and take you and a guest on a fabulous 8-day, all-expenses paid CRUISE vacation!

Or it could be anything in between--anything is fine with me! My job is to help you get what you want out of being a demonstrator.

If you want to learn more, check out my website for details on how to become a demonstrator.

Or if you have questions, check out the answers to questions that people commonly ask me.

Or just drop me an email! I'd be happy to answer your questions for you, or we could even set up a time to chat on the phone.

Finally, if you're ready to sign up, I'm ready to help you get started!! Send me an email for the password you'll need to sign up online and order your Starter Kit!

20 Minutes Before Your Guests Arrive...

Yesterday I shared the notebooks I created for BUNCO gifts last week. In addition to the notebooks, I also had to come up with 3 grand gifts for the game winners.

So of course about 20 minute before everyone was scheduled to arrive, I pulled out my Big Shot and created some special gift tags!

The tags themselves are cut from the On Board Long Boards, using the Scallop Circle Die (hey, didn't I just use that die yesterday!?). I also cut a piece of Tempting Turquoise cardstock to cover the chipboard.

The letters are cut from Pink Passion cardstock (one of the soon-to-retire colors), also with the Big Shot, and the Designer Series Paper is from the Sunny Day Simply Scrappin' Kit.

The butterfly is cut with the Beautiful Wings die (check out my recent butterfly cards!), and the dots were added with the Perfect Polka Dot Impressions Folder.

Of course I had to add the Melon Mambo Polka Dotted Grosgrain Ribbon (yum!) along with a Jumbo Eyelet.

Pink Glitter and Dice

This past week I hosted our neighborhood's BUNCO game. If you've never experienced BUNCO in the past, I'll just summarize: it's an easy dice game that doesn't really involve any strategy. A friend recently said that it's mostly an excuse to eat and chat with friends.

In our case, it's also a chance to share gifts. This month I got to pick out the gifts, plus I made a hand-stamped gift (of course!) for everyone who attended.

Each player got her own "notes" notebook, complete with glittery "N" and tied with a Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon.

Want to create your own notebooks? They're really easy!

Notebook: I purchased a stack of steno pads at my local office supply store, then I had the store cut the whole stack into 4.25 x 8.5" pads.

Binding: The fold-over piece of Barely Banana cardstock is 8.5 x 8.75", scored to accommodate the thickness of the notebook. The notebook is attached to the cardstock backing with Sticky Strip, and the office store logo on the pad binding is covered with a Scallop Circle piece of Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper.

Cover: The letter "N" was cut from a Sticky Page (like a huge sheet of Sticky Strip tape) using the Serif Essentials Big Shot die set. The glitter is pink, from the Fine Supernova color set.

And what project is complete without stamps? These notebooks each had the word "notes" printed along one edge in the Jumbo Outline Alphabet.

Awash with Stampin' Pastels and Flowers

Have you seen the new Awash With Flowers stamp set yet?

It's a sneak peek at the new catalog that comes out on July 1st, but you don't have to wait til July 1st to get your own set. You can actually order it any time in April, either in Clear Mount or wood mount!

Last month my friend Julie Davison shared a tutorial on the fabulous Chalk Grid Technique, and I couldn't wait to try it out!

You basically use your Stampin' Pastels with a Sponge Dauber (or cotton ball) to add color splotches all over the white background cardstock. Then use a ruler and the eraser from the Stampin' Pastels to erase a lines to make the grid.

Isn't it the COOLEST?! I used it here as a background for my Awash with Flowers cut-outs.

The Satin Ribbon and the Corduroy Button here are both Basic Gray, so I stamped the outline images in Basic Gray ink to match.

This is a fabulous stamp set for using with the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (if you're a stamper who just *needs* to line things up perfectly). If you haven't used one before, be sure to check out my "how-to" video on using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig!

And in case you're wondering about the greeting, the inside is a 'belated birthday' message. I have to admit that I need *way* too many belated birthday cards ;-)

We're making this card at Stamp Club this week--be sure to let me know if you'd like to join us on Wednesday evening!
